China prepares to ban goods imported from Australia
China prepares to ban Australia
News : Chinese government media Global Times called Australia a puppet of America's hand. In its editorial, the Global Times wrote that Australia's involvement with the EU proposal in the WHO indicates that it has failed in the whole case. Australia is demanding an independent investigation into the origin of the corona virus and is targeting China.
China has announced imposition of around 80 per cent import duty on Australian barley. The increase is believed to be due to Australia supporting the Corona virus probe. These charges are effective from Tuesday. A week earlier, China banned the labeling issue over the import of beef from Australia's four abattoirs.
Australian Trade Minister Simon Birmingham rejected China's claim that the Australian government subsidized barley. He said that he could appeal to the WTO to resolve the beef and barley dispute. Birmingham said, "Australia is not keen on a trade war." We do not set our business policies based on tit-for-tat. We work according to business rules."
Australia is the first country to demand a global investigation on the epidemic. And after the demand of Australia, more than 100 countries supported this proposal.
