Global Gender Gap Score for India
Since the index’s creation in 2006, India’s worldwide gender gap score has varied between 0.593 and 0.683. India received a score of 0.625 and finished 140th out of 156 nations in 2021. In comparison to males, women have a higher gender equality score for estimated earned income.
The Importance of India’s Success
The achievement of India, which has almost 662 million women, would have a considerable impact on the regional rankings, according to the WEF research. According to this report, India’s educational attainment has improved very little. Since 2021, fewer men and women have entered the labor force.
Ranks of other nations
Six out of the top ten spots have been taken by European nations like Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, and Germany. The report includes rankings for 146 nations. Iceland, Finland, Norway, New Zealand, and Sweden are the top five. Iran, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are the five nations that have been impacted the most. The news organisation IANS has provided this information.
In Nepal, Bangladesh, and India, there has been a noticeable growth in the proportion of women in professional and technical roles. Iran, Pakistan, and the Maldives, on the other hand, experienced percentage declines with less of an impact on the performance of the entire area.
Index of global gender discrepancy
In four crucial areas—political empowerment, educational achievement, health and survival, and economic involvement and opportunity—the Global Gender Gap Index tracks nations’ advancements toward gender equality.
