Reliance Jio becomes number 1 network of rural India
After the cities, Reliance Jio has made its inroads in the villages too. According to data released by TRAI on Thursday, Reliance Jio, in June, surpassed Vodafone-Idea to achieve the number one position in rural India. In rural areas, Jio's consumer base reached over 16.63 million.
In June, Reliance Jio added more than 24 lakh 45 thousand customers in rural areas to its network. At the same time, Voda-Idea lost about 24 lakh and Airtel lost 20 lakh 68 thousand rural customers in the same period. At the end of June, 16 crore 60 lakh customers were connected with Voda-Idea in rural India and about 15 crore 10 lakh customers from Airtel.
By the end of June more than 39 crore 72 lakh customers were using Jio network. Reliance Jio added around 4.5 million new customers in June compared to the month of May. Only Reliance Jio was able to add new consumers during this period, with other companies losing huge amounts of customers.
