Thailand takes legal action against Facebook and Twitter
Thailand's government has initiated legal action on Facebook and Twitter for not removing objectionable content from social media. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has filed a complaint with the Cybercrime Police Station.
Digital Minister Puttipong said that even after the court order Facebook and Twitter did not listen to us, we decided to take legal action against them. No such action has been taken against Google because its video platform removed objectionable content.
Thailand has a strict law to prevent computer crime on the basis of which such complaints are dealt with and harsh punishment is also given to the company or individual if found guilty.
On the matter on Facebook and Twitter, the government says that companies now have two avenues either to talk to us or face trial. Also, if companies accept their mistake then they can end the matter by imposing a fine.
