Indian stock market closed with huge gains

Business News : The Indian stock market closed on the third day of the week with huge gains. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed 695 points higher at 59,558 and the National Stock Exchange's Nifty gained 203 points to 17,780. Banking and financial stocks edged higher. The Sensex opened today at 59,293, up 431 points. During the day it made a high of 59,618 and a low of 59,193. Out of its 30 stocks, 8 were in decline and 22 in gains. Among the top gainers, Bajaj Finserv rose nearly 5%. Kotak Bank, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank and HDFC Bank were also among the gainers.

SBI, ICICI Bank, Titan, Airtel, Infosys, Reliance Industries, Dr. Reddy and TCS also closed higher. The major losers were Maruti, UltraTech Cement, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra and Sun Pharma. 453 stocks of Sensex are in upper circuit and 248 in lower circuit. This means that their price cannot fluctuate more than a certain limit in a day. The market cap of the listed companies is Rs 270.75 lakh crore. Yesterday it was Rs 267.48 lakh crore. Vodafone Idea's stock gained 6.64% today, while Nykaa's stock closed 6.90 and Zomato's stock rose 4.6%. On the other hand, the rupee has strengthened by 11 paise against the dollar for the second day today. Yesterday it was 19 paise strong.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 17,780 with a gain of 203 points. It opened at 17,706 and made an upper level of 17,794 and a low of 17,674. Its mid-cap, financial, banking and Next 50 indices were up. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 40 are in gains and 9 are in decline. The leading gainers are Eicher Motors, Kotak Bank, PowerGrid, ITC and Bajaj Finance. Among the losers are Tech Mahindra, Britannia, Adani Port and UltraTech. Earlier on Tuesday, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed 848 points higher at 58,862 while the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed 237 points higher at 17,576.
