Indian Market : Xiaomi continues to dominate the first place

Gadgets/News : Xiaomi has maintained its dominance in the first place in the smartphone market in India. Between July and September i.e. the third quarter (3Q21), Xiaomi has sold the maximum number of smartphones in India. There has been a decrease in shipments on a year-on-year basis. According to the report, in the third quarter of 2021, the Indian smartphone market registered a decline of 12% on a year-on-year basis.

48 ​​million smartphone shipments were made in India. The Indian smartphone market had registered growth for the last four consecutive quarters. Despite the decline in shipments by Xiaomi on a year-on-year basis, the company captured the largest market share. India was the third largest 5G smartphone market globally with 7% of the worldwide 5G shipments.

Compared to 3Q20, 3Q21 shipments declined 12% y-o-y from 5.42 crore units to 48 million units on a year-on-year basis. In the quarter-on-quarter comparison, shipments in the Indian market grew by 4.7% to 48 million units from 34 million units in the third quarter of this year. Xiaomi's sub-brand Poco saw a 65% growth in shipments. The record-high share recorded by online channels (52%) included a 5% YoY decline in shipment volume.

Samsung stood second in the quarter, down 33% year-on-year. Vivo Company stood third with a 13% year-on-year shipment decline. Reality is at the fourth position with a decline of 5% on a yearly basis. Oppo ranked fifth, with a year-on-year decline of 16%. Offline channels reported a 18% year-on-year decline in shipments.
