Technology News : India was the world's third largest 5G smartphone market and accounted for 7% (1 million units) of worldwide 5G shipments in the quarter. From January to September 2021, 17 million 5G smartphone shipments were made in India.
The country sold one million units in the quarter at an average sales price of $401 (approximately Rs 29,800). India's smartphone market will end 2021 with a single digit annual growth.
Navendra Singh, Research Director, Client Devices and IPDS, IDC India said 120 million units have already been shipped in the first nine months of the year (January-Sept'21), registering a 42% year-on-year growth with 1H21. It is expected to see a decline in 4Q21 due to supply constraints, reducing annual shipments to less than 160 million in 2021. The first half of 2022 will be challenging, with it expected to improve by the end of 2022.
