Cloudburst in Devprayag area in Tehri

On Tuesday, cloudburst occurred again in Uttarakhand. The latest case is of Devprayag in Tehri district. Here at around 5 o'clock in the evening, several shops were destroyed by the cloudburst. The three-floor ITI building also collapsed. Cloud burst has caused a surge in the Santa river. 12-13 shops around the river have been washed away. Locals say shops were closed due to the lockdown, so there was no loss of life or property.

DGP Ashok Kumar said that a cloudburst has occurred in the Devprayag police station area in Tehri. In which 7-8 shops and ITI buildings have suffered heavy damage, but there has been no loss of life. SDRF teams have reached the scene and are providing help. Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said - Divine disaster is reported in Devprayag, the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. It has been reported that many shops and residential buildings in Devprayag have been damaged due to cloudburst in the high hill.

CM said- God is pleased that, there has been no loss of life in this natural event. I have instructed the district administration and police officials to reach the spot and provide immediate relief to the affected people. A detailed report has been asked to report the loss due to the disaster.

Before this, there has been a cloudburst in Chamoli on 3 May and in New Tehri on 7 May. On May 3, a cloudburst occurred at three different places in the foothills of Binsar hill in Ghat block of Chamoli district, causing havoc in Ghat Bazaar. More than 30 houses were damaged in the debris, while 25 shops were also destroyed. After this, on May 7, debris was penetrated in several houses and shops due to cloudburst in Pipola of Jakhanidhar block in New Tehri. Around 16 houses in the village came under threat.
