In its report, Strategy Analytics reported that Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi will overtake Huawei to achieve third place in the world's smartphone space in 2021. The research note also states, 'Shaomi will emerge as the third largest global smartphone vendor to surpass Huawei'.
According to a report by Cyber Media Research (CMR), Chinese smartphone makers lead the Indian smartphone market, registering 100 million (100 million) shipments in the second half of 2020. Xiaomi holds 27% market share in India, followed by Samsung with 20%, Vivo with 14%, Realme with 11% and Oppo with 10%. In India, Xiaomi also leads in the Smart TV space with the smartphone segment.
Xiaomi is gaining considerable popularity in Asia-Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe. "For 2021, we believe that Xiaomi will overtake Huawei to become the world's third largest smartphone vendor." "Xiaomi is doing well in the markets of India and Russia, and has been very aggressive in Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe as well," says Abhilash Kumar, smartphone analyst at Strategy Analytics.
The report suggested that, the global smartphone market will reach 1.40 billion (140 million) units with a 7% growth in 2021, due to the proliferation of 5G smartphones. Transsion Holdings, which runs other brands such as ITEL, Techno, may outstrip Samsung in Africa and Middle East regions.
