The Delhi High Court on Monday said that accepting the new policy of social messaging app WhatsApp was 'voluntary'. If a person does not agree to those terms and conditions, then he cannot use or join that platform. The Delhi High Court said this while hearing a petition challenging WhatsApp's new privacy policy on behalf of a lawyer. During the hearing, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva said that WhatsApp is a private app. Do not join it. He said that accepting the privacy policy is a voluntary process, so do not accept it. The court also said that after reading the terms and conditions of most of the mobile apps, you will be shocked as to what you consent to. The court even said that Google Map also captures and stores all your data.

Senior Advocates Kapil Sibal and Mukul Rohatgi, appearing in court on behalf of WhatsApp and Facebook, said that this petition is not worth considering. Both the advocates said that many of the issues raised in this petition are baseless. Both told the court that private chats with family and friends would remain encrypted even further and would not be stored on WhatsApp's behalf. He said that even after the implementation of the new policy, there will be no change in this situation. Only WhatsApp's business chat will change.
