Mumbai : The stock market set a record on the first day of the week. The Sensex gained 259.97 points to close at 41,859.69. The Nifty closed up 72.75 points at 12,329.55. These are the record closing levels of both indices.



Sensex-Nifty also touched the highest level in intra-day. The Sensex rose to 41,899.63 and the Nifty to 12,337.75 during trading. According to traders, strong international and domestic cues increased market buying.

• Coal India 3.07%
• Gail 2.91%
• Bharti Airtel 2.54%

23 of the 30 Sensex stocks and 36 of the 50 Nifty stocks closed up. All 11 sector indices saw an edge on the NSE. All 11 sector indices were on the NSE. The Reality Index gained the largest 2.1%.
