iPad Pro Gets AI Boost: Editing, AR, and More

AI on the Go. iPad Pro Gets AI Boost: Editing, AR, and More.

Apple made waves recently with the unveiling of its latest iPad lineup. The focus? A significant leap forward in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. This isn’t just a minor upgrade; it’s a clear signal that Apple sees AI as a game-changer for the future of tablets.

Well, let me introduce you to the newest iPads. So first up, there's a new iPad Air, which follows the script of bringing a few things down from the previous iPad Pros and, of course, you know, making it available for this lower price.

So it graduates from the M1 to the M2 chip inside, it starts up at 128 gigs of storage now, and it moves the webcam to the landscape bezel where it belongs. It gets faster wifi, and for the first time, there is a larger one now, so they're calling it the 11-inch and the 13-inch iPad Air.

The star of the show is the new iPad Pro. It features the all-new M4 chip, the powerhouse behind its enhanced AI prowess. The M4 boasts a vastly improved “neural engine,” the specific part of the chip responsible for AI tasks.

This translates into lightning-fast performance for applications that rely heavily on AI, such as:

  • Editing photos and videos: Imagine editing complex video projects with ease. AI can analyze footage, automatically enhance colors and lighting, and even suggest edits.
  • Object recognition: Need to identify objects in a photo or scan a document? The M4’s neural engine can do it in a blink, saving you time and effort.
  • Augmented reality (AR) experiences. AI is the key to creating realistic and immersive AR experiences. The M4 chip paves the way for groundbreaking AR applications in fields like education, gaming, and design.

Apple Upgrade iPad for the Future

Apple isn’t neglecting the iPad Air either. This popular model gets a boost with the M2 chip, offering a significant performance upgrade. The M2 isn’t as AI-focused as the M4, but it’s still powerful enough to handle many AI-powered tasks.

They start off by revealing that these new iPads, the 11-inch and the 13-inch, are the thinnest Apple devices ever made. That's including phones; that's including old iPods and everything. The 11-inch is 5.3 millimeters thin, and the 13-inch is 5.1 millimeters thin, so that's literally thinner than the iPod Nano ever was. It's nuts.

It just looks ridiculous. It's crazy to hold. It's also lighter, as you might imagine. It just kind of feels like this impossible sheet of metal in your hand. I don't know if anyone ever looked at an iPad Pro and asked for it to be thinner, but that's what they went and did. What could possibly go wrong? Fun fact: this also now means that the iPad Air is heavier than the iPad Pro, just to make sure we keep a mess of an iPad lineup going.

What does this mean for iPad users?

These advancements open doors for a variety of users.

  • Creative professionals. The use of M4’s AI capabilities can optimize the workflow of video editors, photographers, and graphic designers.
  • Students and educators. With AI-powered learning tools, learning can be more engaging and effective.
  • Developers. iPad’s enhanced AI capabilities open up exciting possibilities for developers.

Beyond the specs: A new era for iPads?

Apple’s focus on AI goes beyond just faster processing. It’s a strategic move that positions the iPad as a serious contender in the professional computing space. Users who might have opted for a laptop in the past now have an iPad Pro that can handle complex AI tasks seamlessly.

Is this an iPad Pro only upgrade?

While the M4 chip in the iPad Pro takes center stage for AI advancements, the M2 chip in the iPad Air shouldn’t be overlooked. It offers a significant performance boost over previous iPad Air models. It makes it a great choice for users who need a powerful and versatile tablet for everyday tasks.

A tip for those that actually want to preserve their battery life as long as possible is to go into your settings and go into your battery section right here. Let's scroll down to battery in the battery health section if we scroll down right now. It's still set at 100% due to the fact that it's a new device now. I've had this iPad for longer than 2 years, so I am going to go ahead and enable the 80% limit just like an electric vehicle and other devices. It's recommended.

If you want to maintain the longevity of the battery as long as possible, don't charge it up to 100%, as the battery cells tend to wear off a little bit quicker. If you just have it at 100% at all times and you don't use it by leaving a little small buffer, this should easily extend the battery life to last even longer on your iPad.

The future of iPads: Powered by AI

Apple‘s commitment to AI in its iPads is a clear sign that the company sees this technology as a cornerstone of future tablet experiences. The M4 and M2 chips will make iPads even more powerful tools for work, learning, and entertainment.

New iPads with AI muscle are definitely worth considering if you’re a creative professional, a student, or want a powerful device.

If you actually own the iPad Pro and have the Apple Pencil, here are some cool hidden features and some cool settings. You should definitely enable it to get the most out of your device.

Sometimes, when I'm just showing a draft to my clients, I don't have time to use Photoshop by holding on to an image. You could actually copy the subject right here. So if we go back into our notes app and I hit paste, it immediately just crops out the image. This is utilizing the same technology that we have on our iPhones to allow us to create stickers.

But now you can also find it on the iPad. So that's how you could quickly crop out images and just focus on the subject. Now the Apple Pencil Pro does have my abilities, and if you're not familiar with how to use it, of course, you need to go into your Find My App. You then have to go on your devices and select the Apple Pencil, and then tap on the little blue circle, white icon, and basically something very similar, like the fine, my remote with your Apple TV.

That's how it basically works; then, if you have a bunch of folders, well, right now, I haven't set up my folders on my iPad Pro yet, but whenever you see a little notification icon by wrongly holding on that app, it will actually show you which app has the notification.
