A user says, "Nine years ago, I became a fan of SSR after watching Magadheera and Eega back-to-back." These movies made me explore Telugu cinema (I'm French and had been watching Bollywood for 3 years prior to that). Back then, most North Indians didn't even know who he was! To see him have this recognition in the US is surreal and awesome. He is making history for Indian cinema. Of all the Indian filmmakers that could have had a hit in the west, I'm so glad it's him!
You're right; it's heartwarming, and it's wonderful to see the West finally recognise the brilliance of Indian cinema. RRR is the door to the West and will forever be remembered as the one Indian movie that showcased Indian cinema to the West. Congratulations! They are well deserved. For fans, you could actually meet many of these actors in Hyderabad and visit Ramoji Film City. They personally give time to foreign fans if you can contact them. A lot of Japanese fans actually met them.
With Baahubali, Rajamouli brought Telugu films to the North and the rest of the country. And with RRR, it reached the West and a few other countries. I'm confident that his next film will be a worldwide success. In my personal opinion, these actors have a larger fan base in the north than the south, but the fan base is not economically rich enough to support them. They watch the movies for free on YouTube, and many North Indians love southern actors.
