Maruti Wagon R Models Top in Sales

Business : Car makers have released the car sales figures for the month of June. Maruti Suzuki is once again on top in the top 10 selling cars. Maruti sold a total of 1,47,388 cars in June, up from 57,228 units in May.

Talking about the 10 best selling cars in June, 8 Maruti cars were included in this list. Apart from this, Hyundai's Creta SUV and Grand i10 Nios premium hatchback joined this list.

Maruti Wagon R Models on Top of Sales

Maruti Suzuki's Wagon R model led the way with sales of 19,447 units in June 2021. Also, Maruti Suzuki saw a 179% increase in Wagon R sales last month as compared to 6,972 units sold in June 2020. On the other hand, Swift has registered sales of 17,727 units in June 2021.

Thus, Wagon R has outpaced the Swift hatchback sales in the country by a margin of 1,720. Interestingly, Wagon R has also led in sales in the CNG segment in FY21. The increase in the price of fuel (petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG) in the country is the reason for its increase.

The Wagon R is available in two petrol engine options, 1.0L and 1.2L. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine makes 67 bhp at 5,500rpm and 90Nm at 3,500rpm. The 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 82 bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm at 4,200rpm. Manual transmission and AMT options are available in both the engines.

This car of Hyundai is the company's best seller car and in the mid-size SUV segment, the Creta SUV has managed to wow itself. It has been placed at number 7 in the list of top 10. Hyundai sold 9,941 units in June. Whereas last year this figure was 7,207 units.

Cars Listed in Top 10

Maruti Swift - This premium hatchback car of Maruti got second. The company sold a total of 17,272 units and this is three times the sales compared to June last year.

Maruti Baleno - In May this car had reached the seventh position but now once again it has reached the third position. A total of 14,701 units were sold in June.

Maruti Vitara Brezza - Maruti's sub-compact SUV sold a total of 12,833 units in June. The new generation Vitara Brezza has been showcased at the Auto Expo in February last year.

Maruti Dzire - This is the first sub-compact sedan to feature in the top 10 list. Maruti sold 12,639 units in June, while it sold 5,834 units in June last year.

Maruti Alto - India's oldest hatchback car has finally made it to the top list. However, in June, this car was liked by a lot of people and its total sales were 12,513 units. At the same time, a total of 7,298 units were sold last year.

Maruti Ertiga - This 7 seater MPV was the segment leader in June. Maruti sold a total of 9,920 units last month. Last year, a total of 3,306 units of this three-row seven seater SUV were sold.

Maruti Eeco - This minivan of Maruti continues to be in this list. The company sold a total of 9,218 units last month. The company had sold a total of 3,803 units in the same period last year.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios - This is the second car from Hyundai to be included in the top 10 list. The company has sold a total of 8,787 units last month.
