Wealthsimple Gets US $610M in fresh funding

Business : Toronto-based Wealthsimple, a provider of tools for managing money, raised $610 million in fresh funding at a valuation of around $4 billion. In other news, private equity firm Apollo Global Management agreed to buy Verizon’s media group, which includes Yahoo and AOL.

Mental health care software provider Headway raised $70 million in a Series B financing round led by Andreessen Horowitz. The New York-based startup provides a platform to connect patients to therapists and therapists to insurance companies.

Competitive intelligence platform Crayon closed a $22 million Series B round led by Baird Capital. The Boston-based startup sells its products to enterprises to gain competitive information in sales, marketing, product development and corporate strategy.

Australia-based SafetyCulture, a provider of tools for companies to monitor and comply with safety practices, raised $73 million in fresh financing. Insight Partners led the funding round, which set a valuation of $1.6 billion for the company – double the year-ago level.

Fertility technology company Alife Health raised $9.5 million in a seed round led by Lux Capital. The startup is leveraging artificial intelligence and data to create personalized treatment insights for in vitro fertilization.

Mexico City-based Graviti raised $2.5 million in seed funding aimed at making it easier to finance home appliances. The startup is focused on developing a buy now, pay later concept aimed at millions of low-income, unbanked families in Latin America for whom purchasing home appliances like water heaters and washing machines is difficult.
