Tesla to open electric car manufacturing unit in Karnataka

Latest : Tesla Motors and its arrival in India have been under discussion for a long time. Tesla's entry into India is part of the government's Make-in-India campaign. Bringing Tesla cars to India via Completely Built Units (CBU) route can be quite expensive. In such a situation, the company is setting up a manufacturing plant in India itself. The company can launch 'Model 3' as its first model.

After waiting for nearly five years, Tesla will debut with its popular model in India. The company may first launch the Model 3 (sedan), which is also the cheapest electric car from Tesla. The company is also planning to give its car a mid-life update this year.

The company Model 3 will be brought to India via the Completely Built Units (CBU) route, and will be assembled in the country to keep its price low. In the US, the Model 3 is priced between 25-40 lakh rupees. In India, its price can be between 40-55 lakh rupees.

The Model 3 takes just 15 minutes to full charge. Once full charging, this car can travel more than 500 kilometers. The top speed of the car is 162 km per hour. The SUV car craze is increasing rapidly in India at the moment. Most manufacturers have already launched their products in the electric SUV segment, including Mercedes-Benz 'EQC, Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV.

The Tesla Model Y (SUV) is likely to be on the roadmap for India in the future. Tesla may use the Model 3 to stand out from the crowd in its early stages. The Model 3 is quite different from other sedans in the market. The car is also much better in terms of space, storage and comfort. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa also confirmed that Tesla will open an electric car manufacturing unit in Karnataka. He said that an industrial corridor will also be built in Tumkur district, which will cost around Rs 7725 crore. Tesla's arrival in India will be a big benefit. The company's arrival in India will generate a large amount of employment.

According to BS Yeddyurappa, setting up of Tesla's manufacturing unit in Bangalore will provide employment to about 2.8 lakh people. However, it is to be noted that Tesla itself has not made any official announcement yet. According to reports, the company is currently looking for office space. Tesla has registered its subsidiary in Bangalore under the name of 'Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited'.
