Business : Silicon Valley data company Palantir Technologies has raised $500 million from Japan's Sompo. The company is reportedly looking to file confidentially to go public.

Shila Nieves Burney of Atlanta-based Zane Venture Fund is in the process of raising a $25 million seed fund and hopes to close at the end of the third quarter. The firm plans to invest between $150,000 and $500,000 per seed deal and hold some reserves for Series A follow-on investing.

In fairly record numbers, startups including VSCO, Zocdoc, Glossier and Zenefits have committed to recognizing Juneteenth as a company holiday.
So have VC firms including GGV Capital, Spark Capital and Sequoia Capital, according to Hella Juneteenth, an initiative started by the Bay Area collective Hella Creative. Companies are encouraging workers to reflect on their roles in fighting racism and promoting equity.
